Environmental Protection Agency - Network Exchange Grants
In 2003, the Coeur d'Alene Tribe GIS Program
received an
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Network Challenge Grant. This
grant was a multi year grant to assist the Tribe with bringing together data
and information for both the agricultural burning project and the Pesticide
Circuit Rider program. This grant allowed the Tribal GIS Program to purchase
hardware and software for its first external GIS web server. This equipment has
then allowed the Tribe to share select geospatial information with EPA and
other Tribal cooperators.

During the summer of 2007 the Coeur d'Alene Tribe was the recipient of an EPA
Network Exchange Grant (#OS-83358601-0). The scope of the grant was to provide
the EPA locational data associated with facilities listed in the Facility Registration
System (FRS) database. Prioritization was given to facilities located within current
reservation boundaries and then site recording expanded to encompasses facilities
located within the Coeur d'Alene aboriginal territory. A total of 912 sites were
recorded within seven counties and two states. Seventy-one sites are located on the
Coeur d'Alene reservation, and the remaining 841 facilities are found adjacent or outside of the reservation.
